The Genetic Code
DNA unambiguously codes for every amino acid along the length of a given protein
DNA consists of a linear pattern of 4 bases
Proteins consist of a linear pattern of the 20 amino acids
Genes use 3 bases to specify an amino acid - triplet or codon
Coding capacity = 43 = 64
There is a lot of redundancy in the code. Because of this you can not unambiguously know the DNA sequence from protein
